Brothers and Sisters-
On behalf of the entire Executive Board, I want to again thank you for your efforts to provide professional and quality service to our communities during this difficult year . Your work continues to carry on the long standing fire service tradition of service above one's self.
This continues to be a tough year for everyone in the fire service and in this Country. We understand the stress you are under and want to make sure you know we are here to help if you are interested. As Union leaders, your safety and health is one of our top concerns. Mental health is a big part of that.
In 2018, Local 522 created the Sacramento Regional Behavioral Health Committee to work with Fire agencies to help our members and build a strong peer support counseling group. This dedicated group of individuals continues to meet every month to develop and improve this program so that we can help you when you need it.
There are many resources out there and we encourage you to reach out. Everything is completely confidential and many other firefighters throughout the region have used these services. That help could be as simple just answering a question for you, checking in on your from time to time, or giving you contact information for a clinician to talk with. Again, everything completely confidential.
Below is a link to a quick video our L522 PIO put together with many of the SRBHC Peer Coordinators that are here to get you anything you need. Also attached is the list of contact information for each of them.
Additionally, the California Professional Firefighters has its “Healing Our Own” website with many resources for your use. Here is the link:
Finally, there is an abundance of information on the Fire Strong Website that can also be helpful. Here is the link:
Stay safe, take care and don't hesitate to reach out.
Keep the Faith.
